CJC-1295 Compound Reference

Published · Last updated · Publisher: ENOS Labs USA

What is CJC-1295?

CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of the first 29 residues of growth hormone releasing hormone. The original form carries a drug affinity complex that binds albumin to extend its half life, and two 2006 studies in healthy adults measured growth hormone and IGF-1 responses. It never reached approval and is not an FDA approved drug.

Synonyms
DAC:GRF; Modified GRF(1-29); CJC-1295 without DAC (Mod GRF 1-29)
Classification
Synthetic growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) analog

What is CJC-1295?

The name covers two materials. CJC-1295 with DAC includes a reactive linker that attaches to circulating albumin. Material sold as CJC-1295 without DAC is the modified GRF(1-29) sequence alone. The two have different structures and different expected masses.

Research context

Published work examined pharmacokinetics and growth hormone axis responses in early human studies and in endocrine models.

Mechanisms being investigated

  • Activation of the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs, stimulating growth hormone release.

Research status

Approval status: Not approved for human use. Highest evidence tier in the cited literature: preclinical and early human.

Not approved. Clinical development did not continue to approval, and it is not an FDA approved drug.

Established findings

  • Its GHRH receptor target.
  • Early human pharmacology studies were published in 2006.

Preliminary or experimental findings

  • Any long term outcome or safety data, which do not exist from controlled trials.

Chemical reference information

Molecular formulaC165H269N47O46
Molecular weight3647.2 g/mol
CAS number446262-90-4
PubChem CID91971820

Values taken from the PubChem record. PubChem record for CJC-1295. Material labeled without DAC has a different structure and mass.

Testing considerations

  • Confirm whether the vial is the DAC or non DAC form; the expected mass differs.
  • Several substituted residues make sequence confirmation by MS/MS useful.

General methods are explained in purity versus identity testing.

What is still unknown

  • Behavior of the non DAC form, which has little published characterization.

Research use limitations

This page summarizes published research and regulatory status. It is not medical advice and does not describe any use in people. Material supplied by ENOS Labs USA is for in-vitro laboratory research only and is not a drug product, even where a related drug has been approved.
